Possible Forum Issues

When I built this site, I spent a lot of time integrating the member tables between the main site page and the forum. This is done to allow you to login on one or the other, and stay logged in on both the main site and the forum. I’ve been withholding from updating our back-end system (WP FTW!) because I knew that it would break the member integration, but I couldn’t take it any longer. The updates were too sexy and shiny.

That said, at this point, you’ll will most likely have to login separetly to the forum and the main site. This will probably be the case until the forum code is updated, and I’m not sure when that will happen. Please report any strange forum issues to me by leaving a comment on this post! I want to be able to at least temporarily fix whatever I can, and I’m not sure what’s currently broken, if anything. Thanks!

You Fail at Free Stuff

A short while ago we post a contest relating to episode 3 of our PAX Adventure series. It was for 1600 MS Points. A very small amount of people entered, so I decided to run a poll to try to answer the reason to this. As you can see from the result, it appears that almost 60% had no idea we contest_poll1even had a contest going on, despite there being posts on the main page here, and of course, the video itself. This is a shame, because it means that 60% of you are not viewing the main page very often, or watching our new videos.

THIS IS A PROBLEM.

When we do contests, we like to see people win who are true fans of our work. In other words, members who post on our forum, or those who are subscribed to our mailing list. But still, most of the time we will post the contest on PSO anyways. SO how can you be sure not to miss the next contest?

- Join our mailing list.

- Subscribe to our Youtube channel.

- Post in our forum.

- Check back to PSO at least once a week.

We have some fun stuff coming up in 2009, so be sure not to miss out! :D Be sure to vote in our current poll about which season of MCT3K is your favorite!

Arbiter = WIN.

Yet another poll that shocked me with it’s results (pleasantly so)! I’ve read several comments to MCT3K videos that say we should remove the Arbiters voice filter (which lowers my voice to sound more like… the Arbiter). I am totally cool with doing this, as Pyro and I take into account all our feedback.

But in reviewing the poll, an overwhelming majority of 61% want us to keep it the same! Plus, another 26% say it’s fine either way. So that’s 87% of voters that are fine keeping things the way they are. Cool! We’ll honor this and keep on doing things the same way we have been. Thanks for everyone who voted.

Our newest poll doesn’t relate to MCT3K, but rather our first Non-Machinima series, Smiley’s PAX Adventure. I haven’t gotten a whole lot of feedback, considering we are not releasing this through Machinima, and thus aren’t getting a lot of views. What do you guys think? In editing this, I really just wanted it to be a fun series of a couple of nerdy guys going on a road trip. Nothing real serious.

Please check out the series, then vote in the poll. Also feel free to leave more detailed feedback here, or in comments to our videos on YouTube! Thx guys. :)

We get into your head

The last poll has ended with absolutely overwhelming results! In the course of playing Halo with my friends and siblings, I’ve noticed that lines from MCT3K seem to come up quite often, whether it be an insult, or just to be funny. I was curious if this happens to the rest of our fans.

And apparently it does. Oh yes, for 89% of you!

Also, a whopping 93% of you have quoted us at least once, which is pretty crazy. Good to know that we are infiltrating the minds of impressionable youth… and adults?

<— lol 117

Now for this week’s poll. This is one of those where you actually have the opportunity to CHANGE how we do things in MCT3K. I’ve seen some comments of people complaining about the Arbiter’s voice. Not a ton of complaints, mind you, but a few. Honestly, I’m not a huge fan myself, and because it slows down my voice, sometimes I feel it can hurt comic timing. We did simply to keep things fluid from the beginning of the series. What do you guys think? Should we remove the filter so it’s just my natural voice? If you want to hear what I sound like, simply check out our Cutoffs series (which has our filtered outtakes and stuff).

Let us know what you think!

Your Favorite Season 1 Episode

The results are in, the votes have been counted! Over 100 of you have voted for your favorite Season 1 episode over the past month or so. Here are the final results…

I’m not gonna lie, guys, I was pretty surprised with this one. I was sure that Episode 1 would just get spammed with votes. I mean, I swear every other comment used to  be “ZOMG FIRST ONE WAS BEST!” But apparently that’s not the case, as you can see on the left. Looks like the season Finale came out as the winner!

This was also surprising! I mean, I really liked our season finale episodes, but wow almost a fourth of the votes! Episode 1 came in a close second, with MY favorite episode, #8, trailing behind by 1 vote.

Season 2 is bringing a whole new experience to the mix with Halo 2. Graphics aren’t as good, but will that make a difference in the end? Only time will tell.

I added up a new poll for you guys. I’m actually really interested in this one. I know that personally I find myself quoting… myself… while playing Halo 3. Does that happen to any of you guys? And are you completely ashamed? Vote in the poll, leave a comment here, etc.

Weekend Update #1

Weekend Updates FTW
Hey, Bungie does it, why can’t we?

“Cuz you guys suck.”

Hey! You… you… shut up!

Rifftacular
Since I’m already up late finishing up the next Master Chief’s Cutoffs, I decided to create 10 new PSO riffs and add them to the mix. For those who are wondering what I’m talking about, our top site logo is randomized so that it changes whenever you refresh the page, providing for a different riff whenever you re-visit the site! We’re basically riffing ourselves, so it’s for your own enjoyment. The new additions tonight make for 40 total riffs for our logo. We’re not gonna tell you what the all are (but if some crazed fan wants to make a list in the forum feel free, haha.)

If you have ideas for new riffs to use let us know here!

Poll… tastic?
As per the last poll, it seems you guys are liking our new Extras section! It also appears that only 7% of people who visit PSO are lurking douche bags! Woot! You can view past polls in our Poll Archive.

So this next poll deals with a topic I’ve been wrestling for a while. We will be releaseing the Cutoffs reel later today, before the final episode of season 1 is released last week. Last week, we released the Cutoffs episode about a day before. Are you guys cool with us doing this? Does it ruin the episode for you when you actually see it? Or does it work well as a teaser? To the loyal 2 people that will actually leave us a comment… let us know! (And obviously, more importantly, vote in the poll to the left.)

MCT3K: Now Sponsoring MST3K

So you’ve probably already noticed the dopey little ad at the top left of the site by now. OMG YES, an AD. (cue evil music now)

Before your panties end up in a massive bunch, let me explain. First thing, this is only a temporary thing at the moment. Personally, I hate ads, which is why HaloBabies.net has been ad-free every since it was first launched years ago. Second, the ad really isn’t that bad. No animations, no sounds, no accidental mouse overs. It’s just that pic and that’s it.

Finally, the ONLY reason Pyro and I even considered this, is the fact that, well… it’s MST3K!!! RiffTrax and MST3K are the sole inspiration of Master Chief Theater 3000, and that’s a fact. If there is one site who should get our support, it’s them.

So all you have to do is click on the ad, buy a movie or two (they are like $.99-$4 each), and we get a small percentage of that. Hopefully that works out for us, cuz it costs money for equipment, hosting, etc. That and we spend a lot of time on these!

Welcome to PSO!

Pyroman and I are extremely proud to welcome you to the brand new homepage of our production company. With all the great feedback we’re getting from MCT3K, we thought it would be fit to provide a place for fans (and critics!) to post their feedback and ideas directly to us. We also have at least one new project lined up at the moment, so this will be a great place to catch any new stuff we start working on, even outside the MCT3K series. ;)

Alot of hard work was put into designing this site to be as slick, clean, and fast as possible. That in mind, we are still in the infant stages. Some things to consider…

- crap could be broke lol
- this site’s content sections are subject to change (although for now i’m happy with them)
- this is not a social networking site, so don’t expect outrageous social features!
- at the moment, we don’t have any “member-exclusive” content, but i’m sure that’s something that will find it’s way around. ;)

What you CAN do is create an account to both post comments on news, and make posts in our sexy forum. Unlike a lot of sites, you only need one membername to use both. Isn’t technology great? So please register, and leave feedback! We want to be active in our community, so we’ll do our best to respond!
